RESULTS
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore divers continued its hot start to the 2017-18 season, but it wasn't enough as the Thoroughbreds fell to Liberty League foe Vassar, at the Williamson Sports Center Saturday afternoon. The men dropped a 153-125 decision, while the women fell, 165-127.
Both Skidmore teams stand at 1-2 on the season. The Vassar women remain undefeated at 3-0, while the men improve to 2-1.
The Thoroughbreds won all four diving events in this meet, and have won eight of the 12 diving events on the young season. On the women's side,
Hannah Krall,
Rachel Adamsky, and Monique Dudar went 1-2-3, respectively, in both the 1- and 3- meter platforms. Krall tallied 197.25 points to win on the shorter board, and posted a strong score of 212.25 on the 3-meter board. On the men's side, Andrew Klein and Ethan Reardon went 1-2 on both the 1- and 3- meter boards. Klein tallied a score of 211.28 on the taller board, then finished with a score of 227.03 in the 1-meter event.
In the pool, the Thoroughbreds won five events. On the women's side,
Jazmin Rendon, Olivia Frechette, and Olivia Czelusniak picked up individual wins. Rendon edged Vassar's Sarah Boese in the 100-Back, racing in 1:05.38. Frechette continued her solid start to her Skidmore career, touching first in the 200-Free, swimming in 2:03.58. Her rookie counterpart, Czelusniak, is also off to a solid start after a victory in the 100-Free. Her first 50-yard split of 28.63 was enough as she won the race in 58.06.
Other strong performances include a 2-3-4 performance in the 1,000-Free by
Elizabeth Levy (11:27.13), Emily Favreau (11:45.41), and
Maddie Collins (11:55.90), a 2-3 performance by Levy (2:21.18) and Collins (2:30.64) in the 200-Fly, and a solid 400-Free Relay split by the young Thoroughbred 'A' team of Frechette, Czeluniak, Favreau, and Levy.
For the men,
Harrison Shockley returned to the pool for the first time, not missing a beat as he won the 100-Back by a sizeable margin. He swam in 57.14. Shockley also placed second in the 50-Free (24.20). The Skidmore 200-Medley Relay 'A' team of Shockley,
Ben Rudman,
Hiro Kamei, and Lucas Po opened the meet with a nice victory, winning the event in 1:42.61.
Kamei also placed second in two events, the 100-Breast (1:01.85) and the 100-Free (51.85). Rudman also swam to strong second-place finishes in the 200-Free (1:53.70) and the 200-Breast (2:27.58). The 400-Free Relay 'A' team of Kamei,
Daryl Kwan, Shockley, and Rudman also posted strong splits, as the closed the meet with a second-place finish, swimming in a time of 3:26.94.
The Thoroughbreds will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Union next Saturday at 1 p.m.
