RESULTS
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Strong performances in the pool powered the Skidmore College swimming and diving teams on Saturday, as the teams split against SUNY Potsdam at the Williamson Sports Center. The women picked up their first win with a strong 170-123 victory, while the men fell just short by a 151-147 score.
Both teams stand at 1-1 overall after a weekend of events.
For the women, it was a strong performance for
Olivia Frechette. The rookie closed the weekend with three individual wins, the 1,000 Free (11:45.46), 50 Free (26.08), and the 200 Back (2:26.03).
Meredith Wagner and
Maddie Collins finished 2-3 behind Frechette in the 1,000 Free. Collins also won in the 100 Fly (1:08.30) and placed second in the 200 Fly (2:27.81).
Elizabeth Levy also won thrice, touching first in the 200 Fly (2:19.89), the 500 Free (5:38.37), and 200 IM (2:23.09). First-year
Olivia Czelusniak picked up a pair of victories in the 200 Free (2:07.27) and 100 Free (58.07).
Other strong times included
Emily Favreau, who touched second to her teammates in both the 200 (2:08.17) and 500 Free (5:44.98).
Alyssa Pacewicz was second in the 100 Breast (1:16.18) while
Meredith Wagner was second in the 200 Breast (2:42.72).
The divers were dominant once again, with
Rachel Adamsky topping the scores on the 1-meter board (189.90), while
Hannah Krall placed second (185.48). At 3- meters, Krall came out on top (216.98) with Adamsky finishing second (209.63).
For the men,
Hiro Kamei and
Kinser Bonner led a strong effort from the Thoroughbred men, winning three individual races each. Kamei topped the field in the 100 Breast (1:01.17), 200 Breast (2:18.22) and 200 IM (2:07.21), while Bonner won the 200 Fly (2:10.61), 200 Back (2:12.63) and 100 Fly (56.84).
Ben Rudman added a win in the 200 Free (1:54.79) and 100 Free (52.49), while also finishing second in the 500 Free (5:21.55).
Carl Mellqvist swam a strong 100 Fly (59.41) to finish second, while
Lucas Po was second in the 50 Free (24.20).
On the boards,
Andrew Klein placed second in the 1-Meter (196.73) and 3-Meter (202.28), to cap off a solid opening weekend.
Skidmore continues its three-game home stand on Nov. 4, when Vassar comes to Saratoga Springs for a 1 p.m. match.
