GENEVA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team dropped its first Liberty League game of the season, falling to William Smith 65-44 Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 6-1 in the conference and 9-6 overall. William Smith remains the lone undefeated team in league play, improving to 5-1 and 10-4 overall.

Kelly Donnelly led the Thoroughbreds with 17 points, notching her 10th double-double of the season with 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard

Taylor Ong each finished with six points.
Forward Mia Morrison led the Herons with a game-high 18 points, adding five rebounds. Guard Melanie Patterson finished with 14 points, while Alyssa DiCampli finished with 10.
The Herons jumped out to an early 11-2 advantage, making five of its first six shots from the field. Skidmore battled back the rest of the quarter, closing the period on an 8-2 run to trail 16-14.
In the second quarter, the Heron defense kept Skidmore at bay, as the Thoroughbreds ended the first half shooting just 23 percent from the field.
William Smith stretched its lead in the second half, outscoring the Thoroughbreds 20-8 in the third quarter to pull away for good.
The Thoroughbreds will wrap up their four-game road trip on Friday, taking on Rensselaer in Troy, N.Y. at 6 p.m.
