SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team will host a crucial stretch of games when No. 1 William Smith and RIT come to town, as a part of the Thoroughbred Spirit Weekend and the Friends of Skidmore Athletics Benefit and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony festivities. The Thoroughbreds will host William Smith on Friday at 4 p.m., and close the weekend with a Saturday contest against RIT at 2 p.m.

Skidmore is a tough out at Wachenheim Field. This season, the Thoroughbreds are a perfect 3-0, averaging four goals per game. Emily Saliterman leads the Thoroughbreds with four goals on the season, which ranks fourth in the Liberty League despite playing two fewer games than the league leaders. Seven different Thoroughbreds have scored this season, and Mendes, Courtney Shaw, and Christina Sanzari each share the team lead with two assists.

This is the second time this season that the Thoroughbreds will play the number one team in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) polls. Skidmore travelled to Williams, the 2015 Division III champions, on Sept. 11. Williams scored early and tacked on a late goal in a 2-0 victory.

SCOUTING WILLIAM SMITH (8-0, 1-0 LL)
William Smith comes into the weekend after ascending to the top spot in the latest NSCAA rankings. The Herons defeated St. Lawrence at home 2-0 to open up conference play last Saturday.

The Herons have shown balance all season on the offensive and defensive side. Kara Shue leads the league in points (18), goals (7), and assists (4). On the defensive end, William Smith has allowed just one goal in the team's last five games. Veronica Romines leads all goalies in goals against average (0.22), and is fourth with a .833 save percentage.
