SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – With one Liberty League game under its belt, the Skidmore College women's soccer team looks for its first victory in league play, when they travel to Poughkeepsie to take on Vassar at Gordon Field Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Thoroughbreds began Liberty League play on Tuesday, where they battled Union to a scoreless draw on the road.
Christina Sanzari led the Thoroughbreds with seven shots, while
Emily Saliterman and
Courtney Shaw each took five.
Alyssa Rollins picked up her second clean sheet of the season with three saves in goal.
Skidmore has shown balance, holding opponents to just 13.2 shots a game, while taking 21.8. Saliterman leads the Thoroughbreds with four goals on the season, which is third in the league. Saliterman leads the conference with 5.20 shots per game.
SCOUTING VASSAR (1-5-1)
The Brewers come into this matchup after a 1-0 loss to Montclair State, despite holding a 15-10 shot advantage. This will be Vassar's first league contest of 2016; last season the Brewers finished 3-3-2 in Liberty League play.
Jordyn Matthews and Audrey Pillsbury lead the Vassar offense with two goals apiece. Offensively, the Brewers have outshot the opposition 106-70 on total shots. In goal, Stephanie Tapolsky has a 1.32 goals against average and a .724 save percentage.
LAST TIME OUT – Goals have been hard to come by recently between the two squads. Over the last two meetings, both games have ended up as scoreless, double-overtime draws.
