ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The University of Rochester downed Skidmore 4-2 and 7-0 to repeat as Liberty League softball champion and earn the league's automatic NCAA tournament berth.

The Thoroughbreds (18-24) Â gave it all they had, but the Yellowjackets (26-21) found their groove, using a big inning in the first game and two in the second to win the title. Â All 11 UR runs were scored with two outs.
Â
It was uncharted territory for Skidmore, reaching the tournament final for the first time in program history.
Dani DeGregory,
May-Lin McEvoy, and
Amanda Carilli were selected to the All-Tournament team.

GAME 1
Â
Rochester scored four runs with two outs in second inning and held on for the 4-2 win.
Â
Skidmore got on the board in the sixth. The Thoroughbreds loaded the bases with one out on a consecutive singles by McEvoy and Foley. After
Cassie Fishkin popped out to left,
Lila Rosenfeld worked a two-out walk to load the bases. Pinch hitter
Rochelle Brown took a 3-2 pitch to draw a walk and drive in McEvoy.

DeGregory opened the seventh with a two-strike double to deep center and scored on an infield ground out.

DeGregory finished 3-4 and McEvoy was 2-4.
Amanda Carilli (15-15) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks.

GAME 2
Â
The Yellowjackets started quick again in the second game with three runs with two outs in the first on three hits and three Skidmore errors.  Rochester added a run in the second and three in the fourth on a three-run home two-out home run by Rachel Pietz.

McEvoy was 2-3, while
Karly Fishkin and Rosenfeld had one hit each. Carilli, who threw every pitch for the Thoroughbreds, allowed just two earned runs on nine hits with one walk and one strikeout.
