SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—After a one-year absence, the Skidmore College field hockey team is back in the Liberty League championship game and back at the friendly confines of Wagner Park. The #17 ranked Thoroughbreds host #15 University of Rochester at 1 p.m. Nov. 5.  Skidmore has won six of the last eight league titles and is a 9-0 all-time at home in Liberty League playoff games.
 
Skidmore beat Vassar 3-1 on the road Nov. 2 in the semifinals. The Yellowjackets upset top seed William Smith 2-1. Kayla Rose had two goals and Miranda Davenport had a goal and an assist in the Vassar win. Elizabeth Coughlin had three saves in goal.
 
 
SCOUTING SKIDMORE
 
- The Thoroughbreds have outscored opponents 60-24, averaging 3.16 goals per game. Gabby Hyman (17 goals, 2 assists, 36 points) and Krista Lamoreaux (11-8-30) lead the team in scoring. The team has had goals from 12 different players.
 
- Defender Becca Halter leads a Skidmore defense that is allowing only 4.26 shots on goal per game. Marissa Folts (3), Lamoreaux (3) Halter (2) have combined for eight defensive saves. Coughlin is 13-4 in goal with a 1.05 goals against average and .750 save percentage.
 
- Skidmore won the regular-season match-up with Rochester, 2-1. Seeley Fancher and Davenport scored and Coughlin had two saves. Claire Dickerson had the UR goal.
 
- Skidmore has won six Liberty League titles and nine overall championships, including three Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association titles before the name changed to the Liberty League in 2004.
 
- The Thoroughbreds will be playing in their ninth Liberty League championship game (six wins, three seconds). Only Skidmore (6) and William Smith have won league titles (6).
 
SCOUTING ROCHESTER
 
- The Yellowjackets are making their second straight and third overall championship appearance. UR lost 3-1 in last year's championship game after beating Skidmore 2-0 in the semifinals. Rochester went on to the NCAA III Elite 8.
 
- Rochester is outscoring opponents 50-17. Callie Fisher (13-5—31), Maya Haigis (8-6—22), and Dickerson (11-0—22) lead the team in scoring. Sayaka Abe has 17 assists.
 
- Gabrielle Cantley (0.82 GAA, .600 save%) and Kiran Sundaram (0.94 GAA, .735 save%) had split time in goal.
