Skidmore rips Clarkson for key Liberty League win

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's soccer team stayed in the Liberty League playoff mix with 2-0 road win over Clarkson in the rain Saturday.
 
The Thoroughbreds are in fourth place in the league with a 6-5-2 overall and 3-1-2 Liberty League record. The Golden Knights are 6-6-2 and 2-4-1. Skidmore has two league games to play, including Bard at home on Oct. 25 and Union at home on Oct. 29.
 
Kevin Santos opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the season at the 11:00 mark from Michael Lemnios.  Santos found the lower corner with his left foot for the 1-0 lead. Robbie Heumann made it 2-0 with a header that beat the halftime buzzer at 44:54. Ben Caples had the assist.
 
There were only two shots on goal in the second half, both by Skidmore. The Thoroughbreds had a 10-5 shot and 5-4 corner advantage. Derrick Yam had to make just one save for his sixth shutout of the season.
