Gabby Hyman scored three goals to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 4-1 Liberty League win over Union College, Saturday at Wagner Park.

The 10th ranked Thoroughbreds move to 8-2 and 1-0, while the Dutchwomen fall to 3-6 and 0-2.

Skidmore controlled the play, with Union relying on the sharp play of goalie Laura Aptowitz to stay in the game.

The Thoroughbreds took a quick 1-0 when Hyman scored at 1:35 from
Marissa Folts.
Becca Halter converted a penalty stroke at 11:16 with a blistering shot high glove side past Aptowitz for a 2-0 lead.

The score stood until a pair of Skidmore goals 3:00 apart in the second half. Hyman scored off her own rebound at 43:35 and converted a
Krista Lamoreaux pass at 46:34 for her third of the game and team-high 13th of the season.

Union got on the board late when Charlotte Leyland scored through traffic from Alexa Steriti at 66:30.

Skidmore had a 36-8 shot and penalty corner advantage.

Marissa Folts had a pair of defensive saves for the Thoroughbreds, while Lindsay Barson had one for the Dutchwomen.

Elizabeth Coughlin had two saves to go 7-1 in net for Skidmore, while Aptowitz finished with 17 saves.
