SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The fifth-ranked Skidmore College field hockey team goes on the road Saturday to face #19 SUNY Cortland in a battle of nationally-ranked teams.
The Thoroughbreds were 4-1 winners in their season opener, topping St. John Fisher. Freshman forward
Gabby Hyman potted her first two collegiate goals, while
Krista Lamoreaux and
Kayla Rose each added a goal. Sophomore goalkeeper
Zoe McGuire made six saves, earning her first career win.

SCOUTING CORTLAND (1-0)Â The 19th-ranked Red Dragons eased to a 5-0 win against Elmira in their first game of 2015 with goals from five different players. Kailynne Reinoehl earned the shutout, making thee saves. Cortland was dominant from start to finish, limiting the Soaring Eagles to just one shot in the first half and finishing the game with a 25-6 edge in shots. The Red Dragons are 17-3 in their last 20 home games.
