#9 Skidmore rolls past Nazareth, 6-0

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The ninth ranked Skidmore College field hockey team closed out the regular season with a 6-0 nonleague Senior Day win over Nazareth College, Saturday at Wagner Park.

The 13-5 Thoroughbreds open defense of their Liberty League title on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the University of Rochester.  Nazareth ends the regular season at 9-10.

Senior Dani DeGregory (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) scored two goals and had three assists to lead the Thoroughbreds. The seven points give her 262 for her career, tied for sixth all-time in NCAA III. She is two points off the Skidmore mark of 264 set in 2013 by Kelly Blackhurst.

Skidmore took control early with two goals in the first two minutes. Krista Lamoreaux's shot deflected off a defender's stick for a 1-0 lead at 1:27. DeGregory dribbled right past two defenders for a clear shot to make it 2-0 just 26 seconds later. Lamoreaux connected off a nice pass from DeGregory for a 3-0 lead at 6:03.

DeGregory scored her 29th goal of the season from Lamoreaux at 40:01. DeGregory then set-up Gabby Hyman for her 13th of the season at 57:52. Senior Shannon Sebor scored her fifth goal from DeGregory at 64:01 for the 6-0 final.

The Thoroughbreds outshot the Golden Flyers 26-7 and had a 10-3 corner advantage. Zoe McGuire had three saves for her fourth shutout of the season. Lauren Devine stayed busy in net for Nazareth with 13 saves, including a penalty stroke save in the second half. Marisa Walck had a defensive save for the Golden Flyers.

In addition to DeGregory and Sebor, Skidmore honored seniors Jenn Hanks (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) and Tori Eldridge.

Skidmore travels to Rochester for a Liberty League semifinal match-up on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
