Field hockey faces road tests at RPI and Utica

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The third-ranked Skidmore College field hockey team will look to remain perfect when it opens Liberty League play at RPI at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. The Thoroughbreds also go on the road to take on Utica College at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21.

SCOUTIING THE THOROUGHBREDS (5-0): Skidmore notched back-to-back wins last week, beating New Paltz, 8-2 and Babson, 7-1…Sam Skott tied program-highs with five goals in a game and 10 points in a game in Sunday's win over Babson…The Thoroughbreds have yet to play an away game this season.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Skidmore leads the nation in goals per game (7.8) and ranks third in points per game (20.40) and scoring margin (6.60)….The Thoroughbreds have outscored opponents 23-1 in the first half this season.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Dani DeGregory has registered a team-high 13 goals and six assists and is first in Division III in goals per game (2.6) and points per game (6.4) 57-43…. Skott ranks second nationally in points per game (2.4) and fourth in points per game (4.8).
 
 
SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS (1-3): RPI's three losses this season have come by a total of four goals….St. John Fisher scored in the final eight seconds for a 2-1 win in the Engineers last contest…RPI was 6-2 at home last season.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The  Engineers rank third in the conference in goals against average (2.00)…They have outshot their opponents 71-45.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Chloe Hutchinson leads the team with two goals and is tied for the team-high with four points…Celia D'Agostino leads the team with four assists…Freshman Hilary Fiorentino has started three of four games, posting a 2.00 goals against average and a .727 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS (4-1): Utica picked up two home wins last week, knocking off Hartwick, 5-2, and Geneseo, 4-0…The Pioneers were 6-2 last year at home…Utica beat one Liberty League opponent this season, topping St. Lawrence, 5-1, in the season opener.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The Pioneers lead the Empire 8 in scoring average (4.6), scoring margin (2.6), points per game (11.0) and game winning goals (3)…Utica has outscored its opponents 12-2 in the first half and it has outshot the competition 104-43.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Hannah Mackey is first in the conference in goals (9), points (20) and points per game (4.00)…Louise Steele-Norton is second on the team with five goals and 10 points…Chasity Eckert has produced a team-high three assists…Kells Casey has started all five games in goal, posting a 1.88 goals against average and a .692 save percentage.
