Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.— The Skidmore College women's basketball team almost pulled off the upset of #11 Williams College, dropping a tight 50-45 decision in the non-conference contest.

The Thoroughbreds (1-3) held the Ephs (8-0) without a basket for almost 11 minutes in the second half, while overcoming a 13-point deficit to pull within one. Â
Amber Holgate hit two clutch free throws with :52 left, to cut the Williams lead to 46-45. Â

Ellen Cook broke the Williams drought with a lay-up with :39 on the clock for a 48-45 lead. Lindsay Davis had a potential game-tying three go off the rim with :17 left and the Ephs made a pair of free throws to close out the 50-45 win.Â

Holgate finished with 13 points.
Angela Botiba had 16 points and 11 rebounds and
Molly McLaughlin scored 12 points.

Cook led Williams with a game-high 23 points.

The Ephs came into the game averaging almost 70 points per game, but the Thoroughbreds used a stifling pressure defense that kept them well off their aveage, Skidmore held the Ephs to 16-58 (27.6%) from the floor, including 4-27 (14.81%) in the second half.

The Thoroughbreds travel to Middlebury College on Dec. 6 for a 2 p.m. game.
