Field Hockey Liberty League Final Preview - Video

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- For the second-straight year and the sixth time in twelve seasons Skidmore and William Smith will play for the Liberty League field hockey championship.
 
The 12th-ranked Thoroughbreds will be chasing their second consecutive title and their seventh overall, while the Herons will be searching for their fifth title. Every Liberty League championship has been won by one of the two teams.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (16-3): Skidmore rattled off its ninth-straight win, beating Vassar 4-1 in Wednesday's semifinal…Senior midfielder Sam Revera netted a pair of goals and senior forward Melanie Webb and junior forward Dani DeGregory both tallied.
 
STATISTICS: The Thoroughbreds have won 25 consecutive home games against Liberty League opponents and are 8-0 in home Liberty League playoff games…DeGregory scored her 33rd goal of the season on Wednesday, setting a new program record…Her 78 points on the season leads Division III and places her one off the Skidmore single season record set by Kelly Blackhurst...Senior forward Sam Skott is second on the team with 20 goals and 42 points…Webb ranks third on the team with 13 goals, 11 assists and 37 points…Senior goalkeeper Amy Beck has posted two shutouts and leads the conference with a 1.63 goals against average.
 
 
SCOUTING THE HERONS (11-7): William Smith upset top-seeded Rochester, 3-2, in Wednesday's semifinal, avenging a 3-2 loss at Rochester on Oct. 17…Freshman forward Hannah Wood scored two goals in the win…The Herons dropped their final two games of the regular season, losing to #20 Cortland and Messiah.
 
STATISTICS: William Smith is 5-3 on the road this season…The Herons average 2.56 goals per game, ranking third in the conference… Wood paces the William Smith offense, leading the team with 22 goals, six game-winning goals and five assists….She has recorded a point in 14 of 18 games and has nine mulit-point games on the year…Sophomore forward Alessandra Patrizio leads the team with six assists and is second with 16 points…Senior goalkeeper Catherine Hare has started all 18 games in the cage, posting a 1.84 goals against average and a .758 save percentage.
