Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College women's soccer team was topped 2-0 by RPI in the final Liberty League contest of the regular season for both teams, Wednesday night at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds go to 5-8-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the conference, while the Engineers improve to 12-5-1 overall and 6-2 in the league.

Taylor Korytko put the visitors in front in the 15th minute with her team-leading ninth tally of the season. Cori Winslow broke down the right wing and into the Skidmore 18 yard-box before cutting a pass back to Kortyko, who smashed home a strike from 12 yards.

The two teams continued to battle in the midfield for the majority of the first half. The Thoroughbreds pressed in the closing minutes of the half, but Shelby Hanlon's strike form 20 yards landed comfortably into the hands of RPI goalkeeper Tori Riopelle.

Both teams generated scoring opportunities in the opening stages of the second half. Sandy Kirk nearly doubled the Engineers lead, redirecting a long range strike just wide of the goal and Emily Saliterman had the Thoroughbreds best chance, unleashing a strike from 25 yards that skipped past the left post.

RPI took control in the 63rd minute, as Rachel Tietzen netted her third goal in as many games. The Engineers delivered a long free kick that took a deflection before finding its way to Tietzen for an easy headed finish into an open goal.

The Engineers proved to be impenetrable over the final 27 minutes, keeping the Thoroughbreds from recording a single shot.

RPI outshot Skidmore 12-8 and had a 3-1 advantage in corners. Deirdre Walsh made two saves in goal for the Thoroughbreds, while Riopelle stopped four shots, earning her fourth shutout of the season.

Skidmore host Nazareth at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 in its final game of the season.
