Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Daniel Hunt scored 8:11 into the first overtime period to give #9 St. Lawrence a 1-0 conference win over the Skidmore College men's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds go to 8-5-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the Liberty League, while the Saints improve to 14-2-1 overall and 6-0-1 in league play.

The first half was a defensive battle with both teams struggling to create quality scoring chances. The Saints had the best opportunity of the opening frame, as Mark Provost unleashed a strike from 18 yards, but Skidmore goalkeeper Eli Kisselbach extended to his right, making a diving save to keep the game level.

The Thoroughbreds came out firing in the second half, nearly breaking the deadlock twice in the opening 11 minutes. Adam Beek came close 1:50 into the half, but he was denied by St. Lawrence goalkeeper Aaron Costello on a breakaway and Todd Jensen's strike from 25 yards came crashing off the bar in the 56th minute.

The two teams continued to fight for possession in the midfield, but neither team could gain the upper hand in regulation.

The Saints mounted the pressure in the first overtime and looked to have found the winning goal, as Jamal Samaroo got on the end of a loose ball in front of an open goal, but Skidmore midfielder Mario Hyman made a last ditch tackle to keep the Thoroughbreds alive.

St. Lawrence continued to attack and were rewarded in the 98th minute, as Hunt curled a strike from the right wing into the top left corner, giving the Saints the 1-0 win.

St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore 16-4 and had a 6-3 advantage in corners. Kisselbach made three saves for the Thoroughbreds, while Costello finished with one save.

Skidmore hosts Bard at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.
