Field hockey set to close out conference schedule

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The 13th-ranked Skidmore College field team will look to clinch its spot in the postseason this weekend when it hosts Union and Vassar.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (11-3): Skidmore scored four second-half goal in a 4-1 win at Oneonta on Saturday, extending its winning streak to four games…Melanie Webb, Krista Lamoreaux, Dani DeGregory and Kalya Rose all tallied in the win.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Skidmore outscored its opponents 17-3 over the last four games…The Thoroughbreds have held opponents to one goal or fewer in eight of their last 10 contests…Skidmore ranks seventh in the country in scoring average (4.77) and goals per game (4.79) and ninth in assists per game (2.79), points per game (12.36) and scoring margin (3.35).

SCOUTING THE DUTCHWOMEN (5-8, 1-3 Liberty League): Union picked up its first conference win, beating Vassar 2-1 in overtime last Tuesday…Allison Troy netted both goals against the Brewers...The Dutchwomen fell 3-1 to William Paterson on Saturday…Union is 3-3 on the road this season.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The Dutchwomen are averaging 2.64 goals per game, ranking fourth in the conference…Union is fourth in the league in goals (32), assists (22) and points per game (6.62).
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Sophomore forward Sarah Medd leads the team with seven goals and two game-winning goals…Sophomore forward Jessie Mulvey is tied for the team-high in assists (4) and points (14) and ranks second with five goals…Sophomore midfielder Alexa Steriti leads the team with five assists…Sophmore goalkeeper Laura Aptowitz has appeared in all 13 games, starting 12, posting a .767 save percentage and a 2.59 save perecentage.
