Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. --Â The Skidmore College women's soccer team notched its second-straight league shutout, beating Clarkson University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds, who have shutout three of their last four opponents, improve to 5-4-2 (2-0-2 Liberty League), while the Golden Knights go to 5-7-1 (1-2-1 Liberty League).

Senior midfielder
Morgan Governale netted the only goal Skidmore would need in the 23rd minute. Clarkson goalkeeper Kim Kenline collided with her defender after intercepting a Thoroughbreds corner and Governale was the first to react, slotting the loose ball into the bottom left corner.

The Golden Knights nearly struck back just over a minute later, but Anna Demasi's left-footed strike from 20 yards rang off the crossbar and Skidmore goalkeeper
Deirdre Walsh denied Brianna Weber's close range strike on the ensuing rebound.

Kenline kept the Golden Knights within a goal in the 29th minute, making a fingertip save to parry

Nicole LoRusso came close to extending the Skidmore lead in the 34th minute, ripping a strike off the crossbar and out of play.

The Thoroughbreds controlled play in the second half, outshooting Clarkson 10-4. Sheridan challenged Kenline again in the 63rd minute with a half volley from 20 yards, but Kenline was up to the task, forcing the shot over the bar.

The Golden Knights pressed late and almost found the equalizer in the 81st minute, but Walsh turned away Cailey Nieto's shot from six yards after a scramble in front of the Skidmore goal, preserving the shutout.

Walsh made four saves, earning her fifth win and fourth shutout of the season, while Kenline made five saves in the setback. The Thoroughbreds outshot Clarkson 22-13 and owned a 6-4 advantage in corners.
