Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College field hockey team broke open a tight game with three goals in the first 13:22 of the second half on the way to a 5-1 Liberty League win over St. Lawrence University, Saturday at Wagner Park.

The 10th ranked Thoroughbreds are 9-3 and 3-1 in Liberty League play. The win extends Skidmore's home conference win streak to 22 straight games, dating back to the 2009 season.  The Saints are 4-8 and 0-4.

After pressuring St. Lawrence with six corners and six shots in the game's first 12 minutes, Skidmore got on the board when
Jenn Hanks converted a penalty stroke at 12:18. The Saints' defense kept the Thoroughbreds off the board the rest of the half, with several key plays and 11 saves by SLU goalkeeper Julia Hudson.

Skidmore got started quickly in the second half when
Melanie Webb tipped in a
Sofia San Marco shot of a scramble at 38:04.Â
Dani DeGregory and
Sam Skott then scored goals 20 seconds apart at 48:02 and 48:22 to open a 4-0 lead.
Sam Revera assisted on the DeGregory goal and a DeGregory pass led to Skott's goal.

The Saints got on the board when Maggie Wright converted a goal line pass from Sam Haab at 62:55.
Seeley Fancher closed out the Skidmore scoring from Webb at 63:47.

The Thoroughbreds outshot SLU 31-6 and had a one-sided 17-1 corner advantage.

Amy Beck had two saves over the first 65:21 in net for the Thoroughbreds, while
Maia Paul had a diving defensive save.
Zoe McGuire didn't face a shot in the final 4:39.

Hudson finished with 16 saves for the Saints. Mikaela Thompson had two defensive saves SLU and Carly Dziekan had one.

Skidmore returns to action Oct. 14 with a 4 p.m. home game against Williams College.
