Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College women's soccer team opened Liberty League play with a 1-0 win over Union College, Tuesday night at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds have won six straight and are unbeaten at 6-0-1 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Dutchwomen are 2-3 and 0-1.

The lone goal came at 18:39 when
Jen Wardyga fed a rebound to
Arena Manning who put it home for her second goal of the year. Union goalie Allison Brustowicz made the original save off a
Morgan Governale shot, but Wardyga was able to collect the rebound and dish it quickly to Manning.

The Dutchwomen had a quality chance in the 31
st minute when Breana Derella had a restart from the top of the box that sailed just over the net. Â Union also managed to put pressure on the Thoroughbred defense in the game's final minute, but Skidmore held on for the win.

The Thoroughbreds had a commanding 19-7 shot advantage.
Gab Lawrence had one save for her  fourth shutout of the season. She hasn't allowed a goal in her last 278:20. Brustowicz had 10 saves.

Skidmore will continue league play at home Saturday at 2 p.m. against Vassar College.Â
