Box Score BRISTOL, R.I.--The Skidmore College men's soccer was edged 2-0 by Roger Williams University in the final game of the Roger Williams University Squad Locker Classic.
James Shelton got the Hawks got on the board first in the 23rd minute guiding home a cross from Daniel Caruso. Immediately after the goal the Thoroughbreds looked like the aggressor, but shots from
Brock Bakewell and
Todd Jensen both missed the target. Skidmore continued to apply pressure but in the 32nd Sheldon doubled the Hawks lead capitalizing on Trevor Sparda pass through the middle of the Skidmore defense.
The Thoroughbreds had the majority of the opportunities in the second half but they could not beat Hawks goalkeeper Tom Mangels, who recorded four saves in the win.
Skidmore held 17-13 advantage in shots in the contest, while both teams earned two corners.
Eli Kisselbach made one save in goal for the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore returns to action for its first home game Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. when it hosts The Sage Colleges.
