Box Score Farmingdale, N.Y.—Three first half goals carried the Skidmore College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over host Farmingdale in the Rams Classic Tournament.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 1-0-1, while the Rams are 1-1.
Skidmore broke the scoreless tie 8:01 into the game as senior midfielder
Jen Wardyga (Barrington, R.I.) scored from in front of the net on a rebound off the crossbar.
Only 3:14 later, the Thoroughbreds increased their advantage to 2-0 as sophomore forward
Arena Manning (Cambridge, Mass.) netted the feed from Wardyga.
In the final minute of the first half, junior midfielder
Morgan Governale (Setauket, N.Y.) put the Thoroughbreds on top 3-0 with a shot to the top left corner from 20 yards out.
In the second half, the Rams held a 5-2 shot advantage but were unable to score as they dropped their first game of the season.
Gab Lawrence had four saves in goal for her 11
th career shutout.
The Thoroughbreds face UMASS Boston in the Castleton State Tournament on Sept. 7 at 3:30.
