Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Junior Kelly Blackhurst recorded four goals and one assist to lead #5 Skidmore to a 5-1 victory over Williams in Friday's field hockey matchup at Thoroughbred Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds improve to 9-1, while the Ephs fall to 4-3.
 
Blackhurst got the scoring started early as she took a pass from Hilary Cranston and blasted a shot from the top of the circle to make it 1-0.  She tallied her second of the game at 24:22 when she took a centering from Pauline Searles and slammed it home for a 2-0 lead.  Freshman Dani DeGregory capped the first half scoring with her fourth of the season.  DeGregory redirected a Blackhurst shot and beat Williams keeper Ariana Spiliotes as Skidmore held a 3-0 lead at the break.
 
The second half was much of the same for the Thoroughbreds as Blackhurst made it 4-0 at 41:39 on a penalty stroke.  The Ephs broke through at 61:33 when Lexie Brackenridge took a pass from Katie Jolin and scored on the far post.  Blackhurst tallied her fourth and final goal of the contest at 68:48, taking a centering pass from Alex Hagney and found the back of the cage for her 18th of the season.
 
Haley McDougall made seven saves in 61:33 and Amy Beck had five saves in the final 8:27 for Skidmore.  Spiliotes finished with nine stops and Jaclyn Porfilio added a defensive save.
 
The Thoroughbreds outshot Williams 27-15 and held a 12-10 advantage in corners.

"The Thoroughbreds had a great team win today" said coach Beth Hallenbeck.  "Excellent play from forwards Kelly Blackhurst and Dani DeGregory, solid contributions from midfielders Pauline Searles and Molly Gile, and great goaltending from Haley McDougall and Amy Beck highlighted the excellent effort of all team members."
 
Skidmore returns to action next weekend at Rochester and William Smith.
