Thoroughbreds end semester at Middlebury

Box Score MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Skidmore College womens' basketball team closed out the semester with a 68-59 loss at Middlebury College, Saturday.

The Thoroughbreds take a 2-5 record into the break, while the Panthers improve to 5-4.

Leading 11-8, the Panthers went on an 8-0 run to take a 19-8 lead at the 9:29 mark of the first half behind buckets from four different players. The lead hovered at double-digits, with a late bucket by Rachel Crews sending Middlebury into halftime with a 32-18 advantage.
           
The lead grew to 16 early in the second half, before the Thoroughbreds went on a 10-2 surge to cut the advantage to 45-43 with 9:21 remaining. A three from Dani DeGregory and a three-point play from Ambert Holgate sparked the Skidmore burst.

Middlebury scored the game's next five points, taking a 50-43 lead on a bucket from Kristina Conroy at the 7:12 mark. The lead stood at six when Crews found Tracy Borsinger for back-to-back threes, putting the Panthers up 62-50 with 2:02 remaining. Skidmore cut the lead to six late, but Middlebury held on for the 68-59 victory.

Skylar Caligaris paced Skidmore with 15 points, DeGregory scored a dozen, while Logan Frederick had a team-high dozen boards.

Borsinger finished with a game-high 23 points for Middlebury to go along with 11 boards in the game. Katie Pett scored a dozen with a game-high 15 rebounds, while Crews netted 11 points.
