Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.—Vassar College broke open a tight game open with three second-half  goals on the way to  a 4-0 Liberty League win over Skidmore College,  Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds fall to 8-3-1 overall and 3-2 in Liberty League play, while the Brewers improve to 7-4-1 and 2-1-1.  
 
Vassar took a 1-0 lead at 30:05 when a long throw in by Zander Mrlik was tipped in the box to Dante Varotsis who redirected the ball to Jordan Palmer who scored from three yards out.
 
Skidmore's best chance of the first half game in the 36^th minute when Andy Ringler rifled a shot from 25 yards out that Vassar keeper Ryan Grimme deflect over the net to keep it 1-0 at the break.
 
The Brewers made it 2-0 at 52:09 when Zachary Nasipak collected a loose ball in the box off a corner kick to score his second of the season.   Varotsis sent Tom Weichert in on a breakaway for the third Vassar goal at 56:46.  Evan Seltzer scored the fourth Brewer goal at 77:34 when he got through the Thoroughbred defense and caught the far side of the net from just inside the box.
 
The Brewers had an 18-7 shot and 4-2 corner advantage. Eli Kisselbach and Danny Ebenstein had three saves each for Skidmore, while Grimme finished with five saves for Vassar.
 
Skidmore will host Oneonta in a non-league game on Wednesday at 4 p.m.  The Brewers host Hobart on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
