Skidmore ends season with Union

Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.—In a battle for a Liberty League playoff berth, the Union College men's soccer team beat Skidmore 4-1, Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Dutchmen (12-4, 5-3  Liberty) make the four-team tournament, while the Thoroughbreds end their season at 10-5-2 and 4-3-1.
 
The physical game featured a combined 52 fouls and nine yellow cards.
 
Skidmore struck first when Adam Beek worked the ball past two defenders down the left side and then fired a shot far post past Union goalie Ryan Carter at 26:00.
 
Union came out hard in the second half, scoring three goals in less than seven minutes.  Dean Constant fired home a rebound off the crossbar at 53:53 to tie the game. Benjamin Golub made it 2-1 when he took a restart from Kevin Janson and found the net from along the baseline at 56:50. The third goal came on a Sebastiaan Janson penalty kick at 60:19 after Nick Vozzella was pulled down in the box after a breakaway down the left side. Nick Vozzella finished the scoring at 89:26.
 
Skidmore had a 12-11 edge in shots and a 4-1 corner advantage.
 
Eli Kisselbach had two saves for Skidmore, while Ryan Carter stopped six for Union.
