Thoroughbreds battle Clarkson to 0-0 tie

Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College women's soccer team tied Clarkson University 0-0 in a Liberty League match Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
 
It was the second scoreless overtime tie this season for the Thoroughbreds who are 3-8-2 overall and 2-3-2 in league play.  Clarkson is 6-6-3 and 0-5-2 in Liberty play.
 
The game had a 60:01 first-half lighting delay.
 
The game featured tight defense by both teams. Skidmore had its three best scoring opportunities denied by defensive saves.
 
The first came in the game's 13th minute when Clarkson defender Haley Hider cleared a ball off the goal line.  The second Thoroughbred chance came in the 68th minute when Sarah LaBella's shot from just off the goal line was blocked by the face of a sprawled out Linde Zajec.  Zajec was in the right place again later in the half,  stopping a Morgan Governale shot in the final minute of regulation.
 
Clarkson's best chance came in the 67th minute when Anna Demasi's restart from 25-yards out was stopped by Skidmore goalie Gab Lawrence, who battled a difficult sun for the save.
 
Lawrence finished with four saves, including two in extra time, for her fourth shutout of the season. Kim Kenline had nine saves for the Golden Knights.
 
Skidmore had a 20-6 shot and 8-5 corner advantage.
 
The Thoroughbreds host Rensselaer on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
