Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team will be collecting soccer equipment and monetary donations this weekend at the Skidmore Invitational to help the families of Schoharie County effected by Hurricane Irene.
Many families throughout Schoharie County have suffered major damage to their personal property and homes and have lost everything due to the extensive flooding caused by the storm. The Skidmore women's soccer team, along with the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), will be collecting soccer equipment, new and used, for kids of all ages in hopes of helping youth soccer players in the area get back on the field in proper attire.
There will be collection bins at the Skidmore Invitational this weekend to accept equipment. Items that will be useful include cleats, shin guards, socks, shorts and balls. There will also be a table at the stadium where Skidmore students will be asking for monetary donations that will be sent to help families in need.
The Skidmore Invitational is a two-day, four team tournament featuring Husson, Farmingdale St., Westfield St. and Skidmore. The games will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Wachenheim Field with the Saturday games scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Sunday's games schedule for 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m..
