Box Score

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Skidmore College scored goals less than eight minutes apart straddling halftime and posted a 2-1 victory over SUNY Geneseo in the Flower City Soccer Tournament at the University of Rochester.

The Thoroughbreds will play in the championship game at 1:30 pm on Saturday against either host Rochester or Medaille College. Geneseo will play for third place at 11 am.

Skidmore capitalized on a defensive miscue for a late first half equalizer and broke through for the tiebreaker early in the second half. A long ball was played upfield in the dying seconds of the first half. It was mishandled and Skidmore's Michelle Finan scored into an open net with three seconds left in the first half.

At 53:15, Rebecca Russo played a ball down the left wing to Kelsey Yam. She turned and fired it into the top right corner of the net from the left edge of the penalty area.

Geneseo took a 1-0 lead 59 seconds into the game. Anne Beinetti broke through alone and directed the ball into the net although Skidmore goalie Meghan Sleezer got a hand on it.

Sleezer made six saves for Skidmore. Julia Sanger had 4 saves for Geneseo.
