Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— Senior goalie
Meghan Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) extended her shutout streak to 369 minutes to lead the Skidmore College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Plattsburgh State, Friday night at Wachenheim Field.
The 4-1 Thoroughbreds have handed three straight opponents their first loss of the season, with the Cardinals falling to 2-1-2.
The lone goal came in the first half, when
Elena Stansky fired a shot from left side that Plattsburgh goalie Monica D'Ippolito stopped, but sent the rebound right to an open
Christine Bellotti, who calmly shot into an open net for her first goal of the season at 18:21.
After a combined 20 shots in the first half, the game took a defensive turn in the second with each team managing only three shots.
Skidmore ended with a 16-10 shot edge, but the Cardinals held a 9-3 corner advantage.
Sleezer finished with six saves, for her third shutout of the season. D'Ippolito had six saves in the first half, while Danielle Schmitt had one save in the second for Plattsburgh.
The Thoroughbreds travel to Manhattanville College on Saturday, while Plattsburgh is at Middlebury College on Sept. 22.
