Thoroughbreds suffer first loss to RIT in Alumni Invitational

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team lost its first game of the season on Sunday, falling 3-0 to RIT in the final game of the 2010 Skidmore College Alumni Invitational.
The Thoroughbreds record falls to 3-1-1, while the Tigers improve to 4-0-1.
The teams battled back and forth throughout the first half but RIT was able to get on the board in the 40th minute when Dom Colaprete scored off JuJu Moiwai's crossing pass from the far right wing to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
RIT came out early in the second half as John Zito broke through the defense and scored on a strike from the top of the box to give the Tigers a two-goal lead at the 49:18 mark. Less than three minutes, they made it 3-0 when Matt Broedel's shot from the left wing beat the Skidmore goalie.
Nick Peterson took the loss for the Thoroughbreds, making two saves on five shots faced and Sean Conway recorded the shutout for RIT, making one save.
The Tigers outshot Skidmore 19-6. It was a physical game throughout that saw 24 fouls and two yellow cards.
The Thoroughbreds resume play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15 at Utica College.
