Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College women's swimming and diving team finished second in the Skidmore Sprint Invite, Saturday at the Sports & Recreation Center.
William Smith College won the meet that featured several close races. The Herons finished with 232.5 points. Skidmore was second with 221.5 and Vassar took third with 191 points.
The meet opened with an exciting Thoroughbred win by .13 seconds in the 200-yard medley relay.

Sonia Segal-Smith,
Kelsey Carson, and
Heather Friedman finished in 1:59.06.
Chubet also won the 100 back (1:05.29) and the 50 back (30.61). Segal-Smith took first in the 50- (34.55) and 100-breatstroke races (1:14.26) and finished second in the 400 IM (4:53.55). Carson won the 100 butterfly (1:04.80) by .19 seconds and the 100 IM (1:07.00) by .01 seconds and finished second in the 50 fly (29.26). Friedman was second in the 50 free (26.61).
Elaine Burns and
Carrie Koch went 2-3 in the 500 free in season-best times of 5:35.21 and 5:35.50 respectively.
Kristen Stearns won the 1-meter dive (199.35) and finished second in the 3-meter (173.70). Julie DeGemmis was third in both the 1 (169.20) and 3 (172.65).
The meet was a prep for the New York State championships, Feb. 18-20 in Syracuse.
