Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 0-0 overtime tie against Nazareth College, Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds are 10-4-3 and will play at William Smith College in the Liberty League semifinals on Nov. 3. The Golden Flyers are 10-6-2.
The first scoring opportunity for either team came 18 minutes in when Nazareth's Meagan Rivera had a restart from just outside the box that
Meghan Sleezer saved for Skidmore. The Golden Flyers had the only three shots on goal of the half.
In the second half, the Thoroughbreds had a chance to win it on a penalty kick in the 77th minute, but Nazareth keeper Hillary Simon made the stop.
Skidmore came out strong in the first overtime applying pressure from the start. The Thoroughbreds had what looked like the winning goal disallowed after a late offside call.
For the game, Skidmore had a 15-6 shot and 5-0 corner advantage. Sleezer finished with six saves for her fourth shutout of the season, while Simon had five saves to record her eighth shutout for Nazareth.
