Field hockey wins seventh straight

Utica, N.Y.—The 10th ranked Skidmore College field hockey team had no problem in a 3-0 road win over Utica College on Sunday. The Thoroughbreds have won seven straight to go 8-1, while the Pioneers fall to 4-6 overall.

All three of Skidmore's tallies came in the first half. Skidmore earned a 24-3 shot advantage on the day.

Brittany O'Brien opened the scoring on the day in the 14th minute when she tallied her third goal of the year off an assist from Christine Kemp. Claire Superak caged her first goal of the season off a penalty stroke at 24:28 to give the Thoroughbreds a commanding 2-0 lead. Kelly Blackhurst would close out the scoring with her team-best ninth goal of the season just before the half. Kemp also assisted on the game's final goal.
