Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team tied Vassar, 1-1 in Saturday afternoon's Liberty League action at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds are now 1-2-2 in the league, 7-6-4 overall, while the Brewers record now stands at 1-3-1 league, 8-5-1 overall.
Doug Yeates (Richmond, Vt.) got Skidmore on the board first, converting a penalty kick at the 29:01 mark. Yeates beat Vassar keeper Ryan Grimme low on the penalty kick after being fouled in the box for his fourth goal of the season.
The Thoroughbreds were able to keep the Brewers off the board until the 62nd minute; when Adrien Demelier scored on a headed home the rebound from Sam Erlichson McCarthy's shot off the crossbar to tie it up.
Neither team was able to get much offense going throughout the remainder of the game as they played to a 1-1 double overtime tie.
Both teams were aggressive and physical throughout as they combined for 45 fouls and six yellow cards.
Nick Peterson (West Hartford, Conn.) finished with seven saves for Skidmore and Grimme made five stops for Vassar.
The Thoroughbreds host RPI in a Liberty League matchup, tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
