Schenectady, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's soccer team won its sixth straight game, 2-0 over Union College in Liberty League action on Saturday.
The Thoroughbreds remain in the hunt for the Liberty League regular-season title with a 3-1-1 league and 9-3-2 overall record. The Dutchwomen fall to 3-2 and 11-3. The win snaps a five-game Union win streak.
Skidmore scored first when
Erin Donnellan scored on a header after a Union defender cleared a shot off a corner from the goal line at 54:08.
Christine Bellotti made it 2-0 from a pass from
Dana Brill.
The Thoroughbred defense held Union to only two shots on goal, with keeper
Gab Lawrence stopping both shots for her third and the team's fourth straight shutout.
“Our defense was rock solid,” said Skidmore coach Sarah Raymond. “
Catherine Kapustynski played a huge part in shutting down their leading scorer.”
Skidmore will close out its league schedule next weekend at Vassar on Saturday and Rensselaer on Sunday.
