Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The ninth ranked Skidmore College field hockey team won its 10th straight game, beating Babson College 4-0 in a non-league game, Friday afternoon at Thoroughbred Field.

The Thoroughbreds are 11-1, including a perfect 7-0 record at home. The Beavers are 10-4 after being shutout for the first time this season.

Skidmore had no problem with the tough weather conditions, coming out quickly to take a 1-0 lead, only 2:39 into the game. Brittany O'Brien fired a shot off the post, that Christine Kemp collected and drilled home for her 13th goal of the season.

Kelly Blackhurst scored off her own rebound at 11:42 for a 2-0 Skidmore lead. Annie Rosencrans made it 3-0 with a perfect deflection of a Blackhurst shot just before the end of the first half.

Kemp closed out the scoring at the 67:52 mark with her team-high 14th of the season from Blackhurst.

“Skidmore won decisively today against a tough non-league opponent,” said Skidmore coach Beth Hallenbeck. “The Thoroughbreds were dominant offensively, and stingy defensively. Claire Superak and Julia Sarni controlled the backfield, and Liz Catinella earned the shutout.”

Skidmore dominated the contest with a 32-1 shot and 17-3 corner advantage to chalk-up its fifth shutout of the season.

Catinella had one save, while Babson goalie Jess Pashos finished with 15 saves.

Skidmore will host Williams College at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
