Skidmore dominates in 1-0 win at Clarkson

Box Score

Potsdam, NY – The Skidmore College women's soccer team completed the North Country sweep with a 1-0 win over Clarkson University, Saturday in Potsdam.

The Thoroughbreds are unbeaten in their last eight games at 7-1-1 and 2-0 in the Liberty League. The Golden Knights fall to 2-6-0 overall and 0-2 in Liberty League games.

Skidmore scored the winner got with 14:22 remaining as a cross from Lindsay Schmitt was nearly cleared on a header by a Clarkson defender, but the ball sailed over top to find Rebecca Russo just inside the penalty area. Russo settled the ball and carried it in a few yards before popping a shot into the far corner of the net for the game's only goal.

The game wasn't as close as the score indicates with Skidmore dominating throughout. The Thoroughbreds held a 23-4 shot advantage and goalie Megan Sleezer had to make only one save for the shutout.

The Thoroughbreds host Middlebury on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.
