Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The 11th ranked Skidmore College field hockey team had no trouble in a 4-0 non-league win over Oneonta State, Wednesday at Thoroughbred Field.
The Thoroughbreds have won four straight to go to 5-1, while the Red Dragons drop to 2-7.
"Skidmore did exactly what we set out to do in the opening minutes of the game," said Skidmore coach Beth Hallenbeck. "By dominating early, we were able to score two goals to set the tone. The team showed their skill and speed, and controlled the game. Every Skidmore player saw the field and contributed to the victory."
Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) tapped in a perfect pass from
Katie Potter (Rumson, N.J.) 45 seconds into the game to give Skidmore a quick 1-0 lead.
Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) made it 2-0 at 3:06 when she powered her way past three Oneonta defenders. Britt closed out the first half scoring with her eighth goal of the season from Kemp at 9:20.
Kemp had the lone goal of the second half when she took the ball from the Skidmore end of the field through the Red Dragon defense for her fourth goal of the season.
The Thoroughbreds held Oneonta to one shot on goal and five shots total.
Liz Catinella played the first 62 minutes in goal to improve to 5-1.
Margaux Hoagland picking-up the save playing the final eight minutes.
Leslie Dauphinais had 16 saves for the Red Dragons.
Skidmore will host a pair of Liberty League games this weekend with Vassar on Friday at 4 p.m. and Rensselaer on Saturday at 2 p.m.
