Field Hockey rips New Paltz 7-2

NEW PALTZ- The 13th ranked Skidmore College field hockey team posted a 7-2 win over SUNY New PaltzThe SUNY New Paltz,  Saturday..

Brittany O'Brien had the best game of her collegiate career with three goals.

"The win was a true team effort," said Skidmore coach Beth Hallenbeck. "Forwards Brittany O'Brien and Annie Rosencrans really stepped up their games, combining for five goals. 

"Christine Kemp played brilliantly, weaving through the middle of the field and setting up scoring chances.  Midfielders Lauren McCarthy and Julia Sarni were steady and solid for the Tbreds.  Claire Superak anchored the defense and started the offense from the backfiel

Skidmore struck first with a goal by Brittany O' Brien which was assisted by Annie Rosencrans in the ninth minute.

New Paltz tied it at 17:43.But,  for the duration of the first half Skidmore's offense provided three more goals. Off a corner, Carolyne McManama found Katie Potter for the goal. At 34:20, with 40 seconds left in the half, O'Brien found the back of the cage off a fast break. With 18 seconds left in the half, Skidmore's Annie Rosencrans scored, making it a 4-1 advantage.

In the 41st and 63rd minute, Rosencrans and Ceilidh MacNeill each scored for Skidmore. At 52:18, O'Brien scored her third goal of the game.

Skidmore's goalkeeper Liz Catinella and recorded the win in net for the Thoroughbreds. She allowed one goal on eight shots, and saved five.  Margaux Hoagland played the final 20 minutes for Skidmore.

Skidmore 2-1, is at Williams on Sunday.
