Plattsburgh, N.Y.—The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team scored two first-half goals and held on for a 2-1 win over 25th ranked Skidmore College in the season opener for both teams, Tuesday night.
Down 2-0, the Thoroughbreds got on the board at 55:23 when Elena Stansky scored on a rebound of an Alyssa Miller shot.
The Cardinals kept Skidmore off the board the rest of the way for the 2-1 win.
Meghan Sleezer had three saves in goal for the Thoroughbreds, while Alina Greiser had four saves for Plattsburgh.
Skidmore will travel to SUNY Farmingdale for a tournament Friday and Saturday.
