Medford, Mass.-- The Skidmore College field hockey team's outstanding season came to an end in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals on Sunday at Tufts University. The Jumobs advance to the semifinals with a 4-1 win.
The loss drops the 9th-ranked Thoroughbreds to 17-4 and ends their 10-game winning streak, while #4 Tufts improves to 18-1.
The Jumbos got out to an early 1-0 lead when Margi Scholtes scored on a penalty stroke 1:27 into the game. Skidmore came back and tied it up when they were able to keep a penalty corner alive and junior

Carolyne McManama (Medfield, Mass.) in front of the goal for her third goal of the season.
Tufts was able to take the lead back three minutes later and made it a 3-1 game on a pair of goals off penalty corners from Jess Perkins. Michelle Kelly would add another goal for the Jumbos at the 46:24 mark to take a 4-1 lead.
Tufts outshot Skidmore 17-11 and held a 12-10 advantage in penalty corners. Thoroughbreds' junior goalie
Liz Catinella (Sudbury, Mass.) made four stops in goal while Marianna Zak recorded one save for Tufts.
