Skidmore women ready for NCAA showdown with Oneonta

Interactive Bracket

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College women's soccer team looks to make the most of its second chance on Saturday when the Thoroughbreds face SUNY Oneonta in the NCAA Division III first round at Williams College.

The game will be web cast at the following link: NCAA Soccer Web Cast

Skidmore (11-4-3) thought it season was over after a heartbreaking final-minute 1-0 loss to Hamilton College in the Liberty League semifinals. The team's strength of schedule, including a 0-0 overtime time against William Smith and a 1-0 win over Amherst, impressed the selection committee enough for an at-large bid.

The winner will play the winner of the other Pod semifinal between Williams and Keuka College on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Thoroughbreds are playing in their second straight and fourth NCAA tournament. The team lost to Western Connecticut in penalty kicks in 2008.
