Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Brooke Maloney (Old Greenwich, N.Y.) scored 1:47 into overtime to give the St. Lawrence University field hockey team a 2-1 Liberty League win over Skidmore College, Friday at Thoroughbred Field.

The 11th ranked Thoroughbreds fall to 3-1 in Liberty League play and 7-3 overall. The Saints improve to 3-1 and 7-2.

Skidmore dominated play in the first half with a 12-5 shot and 8-3 corner advantage. SLU goalie Emilie Lannamann (Durham, N.H.) kept the Thoroughbreds off the board, until Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) converted a rebound off a scramble at 23:10 to give Skidmore a 1-0 lead.

The Saints came out strong in the second half, with several early chances. After two quick saves by Thoroughbred goalie Liz Catinella (Sudbury, Mass.), Caitlin Estes Ossipee, N.H.) collected a rebound and fed Joss-Elyse Smith (Chestertown, N.Y) who tied the game with her ninth goal of the season at 39:20.

The teams played even throughout the remainder of regulation. Jennifer Stetson (Bristol, Vt.) had a chance to win it for St. Lawrence as time expired, but Catinella made a pad save to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, Smith grabbed a rebound and made a perfect pass to Maloney for the winner.

"Despite creating plenty of offensive chances, the Thoroughbreds were unable to convert their opportunities today," said Skidmore coach Beth Hallenbeck. "Christine Kemp played well up front, Lauren McCarthy was everywhere in the midfield, and Liz Catinella played very well in net."

Catinella finished with nine saves. Lannamann had 11 saves, including nine in the first half. The Thoroughbreds finished with an 18-12 shot and 19-7 corner advantage.

Skidmore will conclude its Liberty League home weekend on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Hamilton. SLU travels to Union.
