Thoroughbreds upset #20 Hobart, 1-0

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team broke a scoreless tie with 27 seconds remaining in regulation to defeat 20th-ranked Hobart College 1-0 in Saturday's Liberty League matchup at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds improve to 2-3 in league and 6-7 overall while the Statesmen fall to 3-2 and 10-3-2.
 
Freshman Aaron Krepack (Mill Valley, Calif.) scored the game-winner in the 90th minute when took a deflection from senior Ernie Economides (Bournedale, Mass.) and beat Hobart keeper Charlie Hale for the game's lone goal. The goal was the second of the season for Krepack.
 
Neither team was able to put together quality scoring chances on the rain-soaked field, but both teams played strong defensively.
 
Skidmore sophomore goalie Nick Peterson (West Hartford, Conn.) came up with a huge stop when he denied Matt Geswell's penalty kick in the 73rd minute to preserve the shutout and keep the Thoroughbreds' playoff chances alive.
 
The Statesmen outshot Skidmore 12-7 in an aggressive game that saw 33 fouls and two yellow cards. Peterson made six stops for his fourth shutout of the season and Hale recorded three saves for Hobart.
 
The Thoroughbreds host Liberty League leader Hamilton Sunday at 1 p.m.
