Box Score
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with Oneonta State in a hard fought battle Saturday night at Wachenheim Field.
It was the first tie of the season for the Red Dragons, who are now 4-1-1. The Thoroughbreds move to 2-2-2.
Skidmore's first good scoring opportunity came from a long kick from sophomore
Doug Yeates (Richmond, Vt.), who sent a ball soaring from 45 yards hit the crossbar at 37:24 in the first half.
Oneonta came close to scoring at 79:24 when sophomore Danny Bruh (East Williston, N.Y.) fired a shot from the left side that crossed and just hit the inside of the post and bounced out.
Two overtime periods produced the same results as neither team could net a goal. Oneonta keeper Maxwell Siegelman (Roslyn, N.Y.) stopped two Skidmore headers that seemed on the mark in the final overtime period, finishing with six saves in the contest.
Thoroughbred net minder
Nick Peterson came up with two big saves in the second overtime, including a header off of a corner by Oneonta's Tom Sagasti (Endicott, N.Y.) with 25 seconds left in the period. He finished with four saves for his first collegiate shutout.
Skidmore will be in action at home when Manhattanville College at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17.
