2-0 road win for Thoroughbred men

Box Score

Castleton, VT-The Skidmore College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Castleton State in non-conference action at Alumni Field.

Skidmore College junior, Ernie Economides netted a pair of second half
goals to lead the Thoroughbreds to the win.

After a scoreless first half that saw both Skidmore chances turned away
by Castleton goal keeper, Mike Anthony, the Thoroughbreds turned up the
pressure for the final 45 minutes. Economides struck for his second goal
of the season in the 67th minute of play. The junior forward took a lead
pass from Nick Cinquino and punched it past Anthony for what proved to
be the game winner. Economides added an insurance marker in the 81st
minute off a Diego Reinero assist. Reinero played the ball into the box,
where Economides one touched it by Anthony and finished in the open
net.

Castleton generated some late offense, but the Skidmore defense was
able to turn away a pair of late runs made by Ryan Hahn to seal the
shut-out.

Anthony finished the day with seven saves for the 6-6 Spartans, while
Skidmore (7-3-2) keeper, Nick Peterson was untested in the shut-out.

Skidmore will travel to Hamilton on Friday, October 10 for a
4:00 pm Liberty League contest.
