Skidmore women's soccer ties Plattsburgh, 1-1, on Senior Night

Box Score

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Senior captain Rachael Sushner (Potomac, Md.) scored a goal late in the second half to help the Skidmore College women's soccer team to a 1-1 non-conference tie with Plattsburgh State College Thursday evening at Wachenheim Field.

It was the last home contest for the Thoroughbreds (12-4-3), who honored their eight oustanding seniors in a pre-game ceremony. The Cardinals move to 13-2-3.

Plattsburgh's lone goal came in the first half at 28:24. A shot by sophomore Liz Radigan (Troy, N.Y.) hit the crossbar and was headed by senior Jackie Rosenberg (Islip, N.Y.) to freshman Lindsey Keyser (Keeseville, N.Y.), who poked the ball into the top right corner of the goal to put the Cardinals ahead.

During an evenly played second half, Skidmore freshman Katie Rasche (York, Maine) sent a perfect ball off of a corner to Sushner, who trapped the ball and made a great move and tapped it past Plattsburgh keeper Kathryn Lind (Garden City, N.Y.) for her team-leading ninth goal of the season to even the score at 73:28.

Both teams had chances to score in the overtime but could not convert. Lind ended with nine saves in the contest, including two in the first overtime period.

Skidmore freshman net minder Meghan Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) also ended with nine saves.

The Thoroughbreds will move on to Liberty League playoffs at William Smith College, where they will face Union College in the first-round on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
