Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Sophomore
Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) had her second-straight two-goal game to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 4-0 non-conference victory over Castleton State Tuesday afternoon at Thoroughbred field.
The Thoroughbreds have won four in a row, improving to 9-3. The Spartans drop to 9-6.
Freshman
Annie Rosencrans (Riverside, Conn.) scored the only goal of the first half when she deflected a pass from Kemp on the left side, making it 1-0 at 22:35.
Skidmore scored the final three goals during a 6:39 span in the second half.
Sophomore
Katie Potter (Rumson, N.J.) started off the rally when she fed a pass from ten yards out to junior
Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) who tipped it in just past Castleton goalie Trisha Clark (East Dover, Vt.) for her team-leading 11
th goal of the season at 44:07.
Kemp first goal made it 3-0 quickly after when she found a ball in the midst of a swarm of defenders and drove it in to the bottom right-side of the net at 46:43.
Kemp notched her eighth goal of the season at 50:46 when she redirected a pass from senior
Anne Murphy (San Francisco, Calif.) into the net for a 4-0 Skidmore lead.
The Thoroughbreds outshot the Spartans throughout, pounding out 25 shots to Castleton's four.
Clark fought off numerous shots for the Spartans, keeping them in the game with 19 saves. Skidmore goalie
Liz Catinella (Sudbury, Mass.) finished with four saves, picking up her third shutout in four games.
Skidmore will continue Liberty League play when they play at RPI and Vassar on Oct. 25-26.
