Saratoga Springs, N.Y.--  The Skidmore College women's soccer team scored a minute into the game and never looked back on the way to a 2-0 Liberty League win over Hamilton College, Friday afternoon at Wachenheim  Field.

The Thoroughbreds improve to 9-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League.  The Continentals fall to 6-2-1 and 1-2-1.

Junior Allegra Robinson (Milford, Conn.) headed a corner far side from Katie Rasche (York, Maine) at 1:15 to give the Thoroughbreds the quick 1-0 lead.  The goal was the first of the season for Robinson.

Skidmore took a commanding 2-0 lead at 26:37 when senior Rachael Sushner (Potomac, Md.) placed a perfect groundball cross in the box that freshman Abby Benton (Vergennes, Vt.) won from Hamilton goalie Kate Fowler (Branford, Conn.) for her fifth goal of the year.

The Continentals had several chances to get back in the game, but the Thoroughbred defense came through for its ninth shutout of the season. 

In the first half, Laura Brandimarte (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) rifled a shot from 20 yards out that went off the post at 29:50 for Hamilton.  Skidmore freshman goalie Meghan Sleezer  (Gloversville, N.Y.) went high in the air to pull down a shot by Makeda McGowan (Syracuse, N.Y.) with 1:00 to play in the first half.   Sleezer made another athletic save in the 56th minute when she knocked a hard shot by Megan Cairns (Rochester, N.Y.) over the crossbar.

Sleezer finished with eight saves for her fourth shutout of the season.  Fowler had four saves for Hamilton. The Continentals held a 13-12 shot and 5-4 corner advantage.

Skidmore will host Liberty League leader William Smith College on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Hamilton travels to Union College for a 2 p.m. game.
